Installers and integrators get the lowdown on the latest Hikvision developments at Spring Insight events

At Hikvision’s Spring Insight events across the UK and Ireland, security installers and systems integrators took the opportunity to get a first look at the company’s latest product releases and forthcoming technology developments. The Insight events took place in Dublin, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and London, and attracted more than 750 industry professionals to take part in hands-on demonstrations and meet with Hikvision technology integration and distribution partners.

Hikvision, the world’s leading supplier of innovative video surveillance products and solutions, gave installers and integrators the opportunity to learn more about updates to products including its Turbo HD, Pro, PTZ, Panoramic and Thermal series cameras as well as its Access Control and Video Intercom ranges. There were also insights into developments across Deep Learning, Radar and HikCentral software technologies as well.

In the Hikvision Turbo HD Analogue series, new PIR alarm-out cameras were shown, which work with motion detectors and Turbo HD 5 series DVRs to offer ‘double knock’ alarm confirmation. The alarm also causes a flashing white strobe light on the camera to trigger, attracting the intruder’s involuntary attention and helping to obtain a clear image of the suspect.

Insight attendees saw how entry-level Pro Series 4.0 (EasyIP) cameras are now able to utilise AcuSense technology to classify targets when reviewing alarms – allowing operators to search specifically for humans or vehicles.

In the PTZ series of cameras, the 4MP PTZ DarkFighterX model now features an improved chipset which offers twice the resolution and can operate at half the light levels of the earlier PTZ DarkFighter version. And the ‘bubble-less’ DarkFighter PTZ models offer newly-added infrared capabilities.

The latest version of the PanoVu 180 panoramic camera provides quadrupled resolution, utilising four 8MP chips to provide a stunning 32MP scene available for retrospective interrogation. The new 12 megapixel Fisheye H.265 model offers an array of easy-to-use data extraction tools, including intersection analysis and a Deep Learning-based heat map.

Hikvision now produces its own thermal imaging sensor, which allows the company to offer cost-effective thermal cameras for use in a wide variety of applications. They are ideal for short-range perimeter detection, industrial heat detection, and smoking detection applications, among others. The Bi-spectrum turret and bullet models fuse video and thermal feeds together for better image quality and more usable evidence.

Attendees were also given a look at Hikvision’s new Deep Learning-powered AI Shelf Detection software, which uses a technology called ‘planogram management’ to enable retailers to receive automatic notifications when their stocks need replenishing.

Hikvision’s next-generation Radar Series will be able to control up to four PTZ units at any one time, allowing them to simultaneously track up to 32 detected targets – and by mid-summer their effective range will double from the current range of up to 60m.

There were a host of new feature announcements for the latest version of the HikCentral software management solution, including flawless fisheye de-warping, an open SDK for third party integration, dynamic re-scaling of images, ANPR as a single camera module down from a previous minimum of 20 cameras, live face recognition, Business Intelligence reporting, and proactive health monitoring. HikCentral now incorporates an integral access control module to complement Hikvision’s Access Control range.

Hikvision UK & Ireland sales director Gary Harmer said the company’s regular Insight events allow installers and integrators to learn about new products and features as they are introduced to market.

“These events really do provide an opportunity for us to showcase our latest developments,” Harmer said. “They offer an insight to our installer and integrator partners as to what is possible by using our technologies. The emerging use of AI opens new revenue opportunities to our customers as they are able to address operational challenges, and not just security issues, within their customers’ businesses. Add the functionality available from our technology integration partners joining us at our events and you can build a very effective solution.” Harmer concluded that the Insight events also gave Hikvision the opportunity to meet with many of their customers over a short period of time and obtain invaluable feedback on everyday matters such as service, emerging trends and project opportunities.
