Hikvision launches MinMoe Iris Recognition Terminal for higher level access security

21 September, 2022 – Hikvision has launched its MinMoe Iris Recognition Terminal, providing a higher level security solution for the access control market.

Formed in an early stage of human development, the pattern of each iris is unique and remains remarkably stable over the rest of a person’s life. The details of the iris are so rich and complex, it is virtually impossible to copy them. This makes it an ideal biometric character for authorized access control to accurately identify and distinguish different people.

Hikvision’s MinMoe Iris Recognition Terminal can quickly verify unique characters of an iris within 1 second, and the recognition distance can be as far as 70cm. The terminal also features color imaging and video anti-counterfeiting to guarantee accuracy and safety of access authentication. With just a glance, it can quickly verify identification, with no need to remove goggles, glasses, hard hat, or other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Besides iris recognition, the terminal supports a number of other authentication methods, including face recognition, fingerprint, and cards. This means it can offer more options and flexibility for access control solutions.

These provide an accurate, secure and convenient access control solution for scenarios where high level of security is needed, such as bank vaults, scientific laboratories, and hospitals.

“In the past few decades, authorized access control has moved a long way away from keys, pin codes and ID cards. The market is now stepping into the era of biometrics,” said Carvin Ying, Access Control Product Manager at Hikvison.

According to Ying, biometric access controls bring inherent advantages, like higher security and efficiency with reduced counterfeiting. They verify within seconds – or fractions of seconds – and prevent unnecessary physical contact. Iris and facial recognition offer touchless access control – a hygienic practice more and more favored in the market.
