STEP 1: WIRING GUIDE
ALWAYS BENCH TEST BEFORE INSTALLING!!: It is highly recommended that you temporarily wire your system in a bench-tested controlled environment and run through the quickstart guide before you install your cameras in their permanent location.Once you have confirmed that you have the basic setup complete, then you can proceed to install the cameras in their permanent location.
How will you be connecting your cameras to your NVR? Please select an option below:
Built-in POE
Separate POE Switch
Independent Power Supply
STEP 2: SET DATE/TIME
SETTING THE DATE/TIME:
1.Right click and go to the Main Menu
2.Proceed to System>Time Setup>Timing
3.Enter your correct date and time
4.Click”Apply”then”Ok”
STEP 3: NETWORK THE NVR
HOW TO NETWORK THE NYR:
1.Right click and go to the Main Menu > System > Network Setup > NIC 1
2.Enable Auto Get IP Address and click “Apply“
3.Wait 30 seconds or so and go back into the same network section.
4.Write down your new IP address. Please note this is your NVR’s “Local IP address”. In our example, our NVRs Local IP address is 192.168.17.39
5.Uncheck “Auto Get IP Address” then click “Apply“
STEP 4: ADDING AN IP CAMERA TO YOUR NVR
How will you be connecting your camera(s) to your NVR?
Connecting Tiandy Camera(s) to Plug-and-play
Connecting Tiandy Camera(s) to Manual Add
CONNECTING Tiandy Camera(s) to Plug-and-play:
If NVR connect with Camera(s) by Plug-and-play, simply connect your Tiandy camera(s) and your setup is complete.
CONNECTING Tiandy Camera(s) to Manual Add:
1.Right click and go to the Main Menu > Cameras > Basic Configuration
2.Click Search then wait a few seconds, select the cameras that you want to add, then click Add. It is ok.
3.You can also manually add cameras, Click Manual Add, select the Channel No. and Add Method > Manual Add, Device Type > Private Protocol, ONVIF or RTSP, then enter correct IP address.
4.Click Confirm and it is ok.
5.If you have added the camera, you want to change the IP address, click Edit and modify it.
6.Note:NVR with POE, you need to check the POE LAN Card, All cameras that you want to add, the IP address network segment must be the same as POE LAN Card IP address.
Right click and go to the Main Menu > System > Network Setup > POE LAN Card
STEP 5: RENAME CAMERA CHANNELS
HOW TO RENAME YOUR CAMERA CHANNELS:
Naming each channel (camera) is important because they are easier to identify and also allows you to correspond the name of the channel with the location of the actual camera if needed (Bedroom 1, Office 2, etc). This can be very helpful, especially if you have multiple channels to view.
1.Right click and go to the Main Menu
2.Proceed to Cameras > OSD
3.Click on the channel / camera you would like to edit and enter a name.
4.Click “Apply“, then it is ok.
STEP 6: MOTION DETECTION
Please note that you will need a hard drive installed for this feature to work.
HOW TO SETUP MOTION DETECTION RECORDING:
Setting up your NVR to record only on motion can save quite a bit of hard-drive space. It also eliminates the hassle of having to view a whole entire days worth of recording to see if an incident happened. These NVR’s have very reliable motion detection in which you can increase or decrease the sensitivity to meet your needs. Also, you can block out certain areas of the picture that have a high-volume of daily traffic in which you do not want the NVR to be triggered to record because of motion in that area.
We do want to pre-caution you that motion detection recording may not be for every camera and/or system. For example, for some outdoor scenarios, you may want to avoid recording on motion because you will have several false alarms. Also, there is the slim chance that the NVR may not pick up on a particular motion event due to very slow motion. The chance of this happening is very very slim but the possibility does exist and we want to make you aware of this so you can determine which route to take depending on how high risk your situation is.
FALSE TRIGGERS:
1.Leaves and other small objects moving across the screen.
2.Weather events such as rain, snow, sleet, etc.
3.Wind blowing the camera around.
4.Most Common: A noisy picture due to low light.
If these aspects worry you at all, then we completely recommend recording 24/7 as opposed to recording on motion. If you are aware of these aspects and would like to continue to record on motion only, please continue reading.
BASIC SETUP:
Right click and go to the Main Menu
Proceed to Cameras > Motion
Select the Channel that you would like to detect motion on:
Make sure to Enable motion detection by checking the box:
Next, Enable recording when motion is detected by checking the box next to “Record Channel” and selecting the channel that you would like to record:
Click “Confirm” then it is ok.
MORE ADVANCED FEATURES:
Region: This allows you to block out certain areas of the picture in case you do not want that part of the picture to be triggered for motion detection.
The picture below shows what the screen will look like which is a bunch of red highlighted boxes. All the boxes in red are “active” boxes which means that particular area is subject to motion detection triggers.
Now say for example that I wanted an area in this picture to be subject to motion detection triggers. To do this, I would simply click on the boxes around the area. Or I can simply click and drag my mouse cursor to the area selection that I want to be blocked for motion detection. The following picture shows what this will look like. So if anyone walks into the area that has the clear “non-highlighted” boxes, the NVR will not be triggered for motion detection recording:
From the Region settings, you can also adjust the motion detection Sensitivity or level of motion needed to trigger detection.
By default, sensitivity is set to 76 on a 1-100 scale, we recommend using the default as a starting point and then adjust it if you feel necessary.
STEP 7: RECORD SCHEDULE
Please note that you will need a hard drive installed for this feature to work.
How to setup a Recording Schedule:
Right click and go to the Main Menu > Record > Recording > Basic
From here, you can configure your recording schedule to your specific needs. Please note the following:
1.You can configure each particular channel as well as each particular day of the week for your recording schedule.
2.For the majority of people, the recording schedule will be the same for all channels for every day of the week. If this is the case, you will set your channel selection to “all” as well as your weekday to “all”.
3.You may also adjust your recording schedule to record on Schedule Port Alarm or Motion and other types, You can choose to overlap any of these recording options or use them at separate times throughout your recording schedule:
– Schedule is full-time recording.
– Motion stands for Motion Detection recording.
– Port Alarm is if you have your NVR connected to PIR sensors, or a door magnet for example. Any time the sensors go off, your NVR would begin recording.
After you have finished configuring your schedule, click “Apply” then “OK“.
STEP 8: PLAYBACK VIDEO
